Once Upon A Time....

Once there once a British Car Company called Jaguar, they were doing well but hadn't ever made it into the big 'time'..
There cars were not mass produced or were not known as good racers..
THEN, one day a group of men sat down and in the space of week had designed this.. This car was to make Jaguar.. It was the car, the model that would make their name..
And this car the one above is the most famous racing car that Jaguar ever ran..

It was NOT a Company owned or sponsored car, it was solely privately owned..

This XK120was sponsored by the Appleyard family, driven and navigated by them as well..
In its first ever event, The Tulip Rally it missed first place by one quarter of an inch! The Appleyards did not make the mistake again, the next event they entered, The 1950 Alpine Rally they won..
The following year they won again, and added the RAC Rally and The Tulip as well.. They also added a Gold Cup for the Alpine as well..
This car is by far the most successful Jaguar car privately run,  it was not modified and has been restored and preserved by the Heritage Car Centre & Jaguar..
It still runs at Classic events such as Goodwood..

The engine was in production in one form or another until the mid eighties!
