Greetings Folks,
Taken on the line, as far away as it looks, and seriously loud, this is English Electric Lightning F.6 opening its afterburners for a fast run at Bruntingthorpe, England.. The run took about 10 seconds from start to parachute deployed..
This is the only place you can see two of these mighty machines do fast runs, even at night..
Taken on a extremely bright (far to bright) day.. Not the greatest picture ever.. But..
Best RAF Fighter ever? Well, maybe.. Most impressive for sure..

Very short ranged but impressive performance, clean could super cruise out climb & out accelerate an F-15A, could also regularly intercept U-2s at 80,000Feet plus; a South African Lightening is recorded as having reached 88,000 feet!
